Outlook Festival 2011 [Event]

It's not long now til I fly to Outlook Festival! So I thought it'd be worthwhile making a post about it! I'm sure many people who will read this will know what Outlook is all about and some of you are probably going! Outlook is a festival dedicated to UK and international bass music set on the beautiful back drop of the Adriatic sea (the ocean between Italy and Croatia). The festival is based in an old 19th century fort, Fort Punta Christo which was originally used by the Austrian navy as a port. Now it is fairly uninhabitable besides the odd festival which it plays home too.

The decapitated fort is the perfect location for Outlook Festival and I was blown away by its eerie and creepy it has during the day but at night, the place comes alive with sound systems and a considerable amount of low frequency pleasure. My first time at Outlook was last year when they first moved to Fort Punta Christo and I had an excellent time, so much so that I decided to go again! Flying in to Venice, I'll be making me way through Slovenia and then into Croatia a few days before the festival starts! Will be camping up by the ocean and the brilliant camp site which is located 10 minutes away from the Fort, 5 minutes from the docks to enjoy a boat party or two and what will be home to the excellent daily beach parties!

If you're into bass music whether it be dubstep, drum and bass, reggae, dub or house/funky. This place is for you, it has one seemingly simple objective and that is provide good vibes and it definitely succeeded last year.

The line up this year is the best yet, here's a list of some of the people I'll be checking out:

Mala for XLR8R [Mix]

Mala, the godfather of the low frequency in UK bass music has released a new mix for XLR8R which shows talents from the DMZ and Deep Medi camps but also some tunes from up and coming producers and unfamiliar names.

01 Mala - Digital Mystikz "Livin' Different VIP" (DMZ)
02 V.I.V.E.K "Feel It" (Deep Medi)
03 Goth-Trad "Seeker"
04 Coki - Digital Mystikz "Ironshirt"
05 Mala "Enter Dimensions"
06 Kryptic Minds + Youngsta "Arcane"
07 Dark Tantrums "Unborn"
08 V.I.V.E.K "Big Bang" (Deep Medi)
09 Mavado "Dem A Talk (TMSV Refix)"
10 Coki "Revolution"
11 Jack Sparrow "Afraid of Me"
12 Mensah "Gambia"
13 The Dub Mechanics "The Clash"
14 Mala "Bad Spirits on Shoulders"
15 Digital Mystikz "Dun Stinky"
16 Commodo "Saracen" (Deep Medi)
17 Coki "Duppy Sour Sap"
18 Johnny Osbourne "Fally Rankin (V.I.V.E.K. Dub Version)" (Greensleeves)
19 Mala "Education" (DMZ)
20 Old Apparatus "Untitled Intro" (Deep Medi)

This mix feels like it's Mala's way of putting the dub back into dubstep and I don't think it is going to end there. XLR8R have announced he is starting a new mix series entitled 'Sound*System*Musik' which I am really excited about. Not only am I excited about this but this mix has me hyped beyond belief about Outlook Festival 2011. Last year was awesome so I am getting even more excited.

Boat party tickets go on sale in 40 minutes and I hope I get the ones I want. :) Will probably do an Outlook related post tomorrow at some point. Anyway's, enjoy the sounds of Mala, master selector!
